How to Protect Yourself – Spiritual Warfare Series

Prints_SpiritualArmour_poplet We’ve been talking about spiritual warfare.  Many may be asking the question,”what is this person talking about?” What I am talking about is a war that has gone on for ages. This war started before creation of earth and man. This war was between God and His fallen angels, one in particular – satan. The question that automatically arises is, “if it is between them, why are we involved?” We became part of this war the moment Adam decided to hand over his place to satan as the caretaker of this world. When Adam disobeyed, we became part of this war.

The bible describes us as God’s greatest creation, the apple of His eye and in order for satan to get back at God, as if he could, we became his targets. The next question you should be asking is, “how are we supposed to against powers beyond ours?” God has already given us the victory through the blood of Jesus.  We just need to protect ourselves so we don’t become casualties.

Hence today’s writing – How to protect yourself from this spiritual warfare.  In Ephesians 6:10-18 gives us the tools we need to protect ourselves from this war.  We have battles within this war that we are always fighting and that is what these tools are here to help us do.

Here is what those verses say,”10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians (NLT)”

So how can you protect yourself from something you can’t see? Great question.  Here is what the bible says about that,”13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Ephesians (NLT)

To many these words are strange because they do not understand who God is.  If you are one of those who doesn’t understand what I am talking about here, that is fine.  Much of this you have already heard but if you would like to truly understand what it means, I urge you ask Jesus to come into your heart. This prayer is as simple and you talking to your best friend.

“Jesus – I understand that I am a sinner but I would like to become what you created me to be – please come and make my life yours and help me to understand your plans for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

There is no pressure for you to do this.  The choice is yours to make.

Next in the series is,”Who is the enemy?”

Have an awesome day.
