How often do we think about the choices we make? What about those small and insignificant ones? Do they really have any impact?
It is really easy to choose and identify the big issues, but the truth is that the big situations of our lives begin with those small and insignificant choices. Many times the toughest decisions are in the small, harmless choices we make that at the moment don’t seem dangerous. This is true with everything in our lives. Because we are so used to making decisions on a per second basis, we do not stop to reflect on what those decisions are going to cost in the long run.
We are constantly faced with making choices. Do we get out of bed? Do we brush our teeth? What clothes do I put on today? Should I eat breakfast or not? Should I drive or walk? Should I study or not? You get the idea. What about the choices that have to do with the spiritual? Do I follow God today? Should I read the bible today? Should I pray today? Believe it or not many face these types of choices every minute. Can you imagine God asking Himself, should I bless him/her today? Should I allow them to exist today? Should I ended all today? It seems scary when put into that perspective, doesn’t it?
Psalms 90:12 says, “Teach us how short our lives really are so that we may be wise.” Don’t we realize how short life really is? I know that we have had circumstances in our lives that have shaped us to be who we are today. If you think about that though, we still had choices to make.
Here are some of the choices God has made for us:
Jeremiah 29:11 – “I say this because I know what I am planning for you,” says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future.”
Romans 8:28 – “We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. They are the people he called, because that was his plan.“
Isaiah 58:11 – “The Lord will always lead you. He will satisfy your needs in dry lands and give strength to your bones. You will be like a garden that has much water, like a spring that never runs dry.“
Psalms 32:8 – “The Lord says, “I will make you wise and show you where to go.“
In everything we do and in every situation or storm that passes you by, there are choices you will need to make. Carefully consider what you decide and with whom you receive council from because it could decide the outcome of your very existence.
Peace with you as you make your choices today.
